Despite the injury woes he has faced this season, Sergio Aguero is still topping the table of top Premier League goal scorers this campaign. Does this not show just how good he truly is?
But like Suarez, Sergio Aguero needs to be in a better side. He needs to shine in a team that is on his level. And that team is not Manchester City. On their day, they are a great side; but they are not world class. Aguero is.
Losing Aguero would be so damaging to Manchester City. How could they replicate a player like him – is he even replaceable to City?
Luckily for Manchester City, the Argenitne has reiterated his loyalty to his club over the years. He has said he will stay at Manchester City until they win the Champions League. Unfortunately for Sergio, that could be him staying there for longer than he anticipates. City will not be a dominant force in Europe any time soon. In the last two seasons, they have been knocked out by Barcelona at the same stage knock-out stage.
Nothing to be ashamed of, but you need to beat the best in order to be the best. Manchester City cannot and thus are not.
Will Aguero’s loyalties be his downfall? The longer he stays there, indefinitely. Granted, at Manchester City he is guaranteed starts. But he is so good, he would be a guaranteed starter wherever he goes.
Aguero should be playing for the bigger guns of Europe – he should be going for European glory.
