The 34-year-old, of course, used to play for the Ibrox outfit before making the move to Blackpool, from where he moved on to the likes of Liverpool and Stoke City.
Speaking to BBC’s The Nine, Adam discussed a potential return to Ibrox. He said:
“Great club, great support. If that opportunity ever came around you could never turn it down. Rangers is one of the biggest clubs in Europe”.
Adam made 77 appearances for the Gers in all competitions, scoring 15 times, and has since played 207 times in the Premier League – there is no doubting he is one of the most experienced Scottish midfielders still active, and Steven Gerrard could certainly put some of his skills to good use, especially his goalscoring ability as he has 78 goals to his name across his career.
However, the Gers need to make up a 13-point gap to Celtic at the top of the table, and already have the likes of Steven Davis and Scott Arfield in the middle of the park in terms of older heads. Whilst Adam may be keen to make a return to his homeland and his former club, Gerrard should be looking to add fresher, hungrier talent to his squad in his attempts to capture that first piece of major silverware.
