da betsul: As reported by The Daily Mail, Antonio Conte is intent on ensuring that Chelsea don’t stand still this summer and is hoping to build a squad ready to compete in Europe with five signings.
What’s the story?
da jogodeouro: January’s transfer window may be over but the rumours don’t stop and central to them as usual are Antonio Conte’s Chelsea.
The Stamford Bridge side were linked with many players throughout January but the only first team business Conte did was out of the club with Oscar, John Obi Mikel and Branislav Ivanovic all leaving the club.
That could be about to change, according to The Mail, who say the Chelsea boss is planning a big summer spend and is ready to move for Moussa Dembele, Virgil van Dijk and Alvaro Morata.
The paper also says he’s looking to strengthen in midfield and the wing-back area as he looks to build a squad that can compete in the Premier League and the UEFA Champions League at the same time.
Conte’s creation
There’s no doubting that Chelsea are absolutely right to back Antonio Conte in the transfer market. He’s transformed Chelsea this season from Premier League also rans into red hot favourites for the Premier League title.
Adding Dembele, who’s scored 20 goals this season including three in the Champions League, would add competition and depth to his frontline while a move for the impressive Virgil van Dijk could replace an ageing John Terry long-term.
Alvaro Morata is also an accomplished attacker and having worked under Conte before, has the relationship required with the Chelsea boss to succeed at Stamford Bridge.
Moves for all of these players and adding depth in other areas would make the Chelsea squad one of Conte’s creation rather than one he inherited and that could be a scary proposition for the rest of the Premier League.
