da apostebet: According to The Sun, Crystal Palace want to keep in-demand Southampton striker Charlie Austin in the Premier League next season, and Eagles fans are thoroughly unimpressed with the rumour.
The Sun report that the south London outfit, along with Aston Villa, Fulham and West Bromwich Albion, all want to sign the 29-year-old centre-forward, with Saints deciding the time has come this summer for him to leave St Mary’s.
Roy Hodgson’s men certainly look to be in need of a new striker given their only options right now are the goal-shy Christian Benteke, the injury-prone Connor Wickham and Alexander Sorloth, with Michy Batshuayi and Jordan Ayew returning to parent clubs Chelsea and Swansea City respectively following loan spells in 2018/19.

Austin may have been a prolific goalscorer for QPR previously, but he has struggled to replicate that form on the south coast with 20 goals in 81 appearances in all competitions – and with injuries often hampering him.
Even when fit under Ralph Hasenhuttl, he has often found himself behind the likes of Danny Ings, Shane Long and Michael Obafemi in the pecking order, mainly due to him not being the quickest and therefore not fitting into the high-pressing style the Austrian manager wants.

Crystal Palace supporters on Twitter clearly aren’t happy with the link when you look at their comments, with one saying “Charlie Austin would be a great signing. If it was 2015”, and another saying “5 years too late”.
