da marjack bet: Having been involved with the club’s academy sides, it has been little surprise to see Freddie Ljungberg be keen to give some of Arsenal’s young starlets the chance to shine. Against Norwich on Sunday, Joe Willock got drafted into the starting line-up and in the pivotal number ten role, and he was once again handed the keys to the Gunners’ attack on Thursday night.
da jogodeouro: Unfortunately for the 20-year-old, it turned out to be a pretty disastrous evening for the academy product. He lasted just 45 minutes as the north London side fell 1-0 down to Brighton, before Ljungberg decided to hook him at half-time and bring on summer signing Nicolas Pepe.
As per Sofascore, he made just six accurate passes in total, missed one big chance, and lost possession ten times – his 6.5 match rating was only better than Sead Kolasinac and Hector Bellerin. And after seeing his display, Arsenal fans flooded to Twitter to voice their frustrations with the midfielder, with many suggesting that the step-up from the U23s to the senior side is just too much of a big step for him.
Some fans of the north London side simply questioned what exactly he brings to the table, criticising his virtually anonymous performance.
A few fans went to the extremes by claiming that he should never play for the team again, and that he is the worst player that they had ever seen.
With Ljungberg desperately needing to pick up results, it may be more beneficial for him to turn to his more experienced and established stars to get his side out of this rut, rather than trying to get the club’s young players to rescue them.
Meanwhile, Arsenal would be taking a major gamble by appointing this man.
