Carlos Tevez has thanked theManchesterCityfans for their support during his difficult period at the club, and hopes to reward them by winning more silverware at Eastlands. The Sport Review reports.
Tevez has had a turbulent past 12 months at City, stemmed by his decision not to warm-up in the Champions League defeat at Bayern Munich- to the disgust of Roberto Mancini.
The Italian consequently claimed that Tevez would never play for the club again, causing the Argentine to flee back to his homeland, but he returned and helped fire City to the title.
It was a remarkable turnaround, especially when the relationship between Mancini and Tevez seemed to be beyond repair.
The 28-year-old had wanted to leave the club, sparking interest from AC Milan and Corinthians- who were willing to fork out £30million for the striker.
But in a message to the fans, he said: “Whatever I do, they make me feel at home and I would like to thank the fans for that.”
City are in a good shape to make an assault on all four trophies this season, with an improved performance in the Champions League becoming a priority.
Tevez has said that this is his main motivation: “What I want is to keep winning silverware,” Tévez said. “That is why you train and play – to keep winning trophies – and that pressure will always be there.”
